Cooperatives Build a Better World

The 19th ICA Asia-Pacific Research Conference, hosted in the dynamic city of Colombo, Sri Lanka, is organized by the International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific(ICA-AP) Committee on Cooperative Research, in collaboration with SANASA Federation and SANASA Campus (Sri Lanka’s Leading Higher Education Institution), a key pillar of the cooperative movement in Sri Lanka. Under the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better World,” the conference seeks to explore how cooperatives can respond to global challenges such as climate change, economic disparities, and social fragmentation through collective action and community-driven solutions.


The conference serves as a regional platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to reflect on the power of the cooperative model in promoting resilience, equity, and sustainable development. By fostering knowledge-sharing and collaboration, the conference aims to strengthen the cooperative movement's ability to drive systemic change in a rapidly transforming world.

SANASA Campus (Sri Lanka’s Leading Higher Education Institution) is hosting 19th ICA Asia-Pacific Research Conference at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI), located in Colombo 7. Call for Papers

We invite researchers and academics to submit their papers for the ICA-AP CCR Research Conference 2025. Conference covers ten sub-themes which will cover a spectrum of issues from technological innovations to cooperative governance, focusing on how these aspects contribute to the overarching goal of building a better world through cooperative efforts.

Young Researcher Award
The ICA-AP CCR will bestow two meritorious papers with Dr. Mauritz Bonow Young Researcher Award (US$ 500 and US$ 300) to researchers not over 35 years of age, presenting their papers at the conference. For papers to be considered for the Mauritz Bonow award, full papers must be submitted no later than 15th October 2025.

Young and Emerging Scholars Workshop

On Sunday, 23 November 2025, a dedicated workshop will be convened exclusively for young scholars and early career researchers. This session is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and provide a nurturing environment for emerging academics to present their research. Participants will benefit from constructive critiques and mentorship provided by seasoned scholars and experts in the field. In recognition of exceptional promise and financial need, a limited number of scholarships will be awarded to cover travel and accommodation expenses.

 

About the Organizers

The 19th ICA Asia-Pacific Research Conference is organized by the ICA-AP CCR, and is hosted by the SANASA Federation, the apex body representing over 8,000 primary cooperative societies engaged in microfinance across both rural and urban regions of Sri Lanka.
